This was an amazing week in France for Noel!
On Christmas eve we went to the DeBarcellos family home in downtown Montpelier and it was a wonderful evening! We had the opportunity to try some foods new to us. We had caviar and Foie gras with our dinner so needless to say it was interesting to eat there, however, it was a very nice evening with the family. We were able to give them a gift that we had been working on for a quite a while….. we carved an entire nativity scene out of soap. We worked every night on it and in the end it was very nice to give it to them. They were sooooooooo happy and appreciative because they didn’t have a nativity set, so they absolutely loved the gift.
Later that night we stayed at the apartment of the other elders here in Montpellier and we had a sleepover where we ate a lot of chocolate. In the morning we did a Secret Santa exchange and opened gifts together over Aunt Jemima pancakes! It was really nice to be able share with each other.
Later in the Morning went to another members house here and spent the day with them for Christmas! We gave some gifts to their family and they gave us stockings full of goodies. They gave Elder Adamson a new tie and I received a French Beret! 🙂 🙂
In the afternoon we were allowed to watch a movie with the family if it was disney…. So we watched La Rein De Neige. (FROZEN) in French and it was very cute. It was great for me because I was familiar with the film and was able to understand it in French. It came out while Elder Adamson was on his mission so he had not seen it! It was a great time. Then for dinner she prepared Turkey, green beans and potatoes……..and escargot!!! It was very yummy. This season we have been having a lot of salmon which I have really enjoyed. Additionally we have eaten quite a bit of this paste that is made of fish eggs and stuff… it is reallllllly good on toast. Now, I guess I am really FRENCH 🙂 🙂
Overall, it was a beautiful Christmas here!
On Christmas day I was able to skype with my family and have a lot of conversations in French! This week my French has improved more than ever! It is really a beautiful language, but it is not an easy one!
The weather has now gotten a bit colder, this week but it is always sunny and bright which is very nice. As long as I have a jacket, it is the most beautiful place!
On a sad note, we have had to drop a couple of our amis because they are not progressing, but it leaves us with time to find new ones!
We have a New Years goals for 2015 amis. We call it “New Year, New Amis”. We are working really hard this week to talk to people and teaching a lot of lessons to help people come closer to Christ and bring some light into their lives!
We were blessed this week to receive a name from the Church for someone who went online and requested the missionaries. We met with him today and it was really awesome because he has already done a lot of research and he just wants to learn more! I am very excited to teach him more.
This week on the 31st we are going to the beach to play volleyball for New Years! then we have a party at the Church in the evening where we can bring amis, so we are excited for that.
Last night we had a great evening with a family here in the ward and she prepared some of the best duck that I have ever had, along with scalloped potatoes.
As you can tell all is well here in France! I hope all is well and that you all have a great année!
A scripture for you this week:
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
