Another week —Gone so Fast!

Hello there!

This week was a great week! I didn’t see it pass, like not at all. I remember last week sitting doing my emails like it was last night. 🙂 🙂 It’s been going way too fast.

This week we had some good weather and with that we are getting used to using our bikes! It has been great and our efficiency has risen very fast.  We are stoked to have them, we have been riding all over seeing a lot of families and passing by to visit members who we don’t often get to see, it is great to just share short and powerful messages with them to strengthen them.

One of the members here who is Soeur Martin who is Irish had to have a couple surgeries in Toulouse about two weeks ago and she has still not been allowed to come home. Apparently she got an infection while in the hospital. While we were in Toulouse for a conference this week we went to the hospital to see her and spend a few minutes visiting and prayed with her before we had to leave. She was super grateful that we stopped by, she is a less active member who we see often so she was pretty happy to have us stop by and we saw the difference it made in her day 🙂

This was another great week of the famous French sport of “Greve” which means a strike, which seems to be the national sport here, the train company has announced a national Greve for every Wednesday and Thursday until July 11 (happy birthday to Me!) which is a pretty annoying thing seeing the importance of those days for zone meetings and district meetings and for exchanges. So we had our meeting pushed to Friday and we had to take an early train at 6:42 in the morning to get there on time so that was a great time! 🙂 🙂 We ended up having zone training and a training by the stake Mission Leader which was a
really great way to learn how to work better with the members and the local church leaders.

We are working in the mission for self-improvement and to purge ourselves and giving up anything holding us back. This is to make sure we are pure and being 100% obedient. The Lord gives us many blessings if we are obedient. If we are trying, the Lord gives us weaknesses and shortcomings so that we can be humble and so that we will go to him for help. This week I am really trying to pray and work hard to work on some of my shortcomings and to ask the Lord for his help to overcome them.  One day soon I will be stronger and more capable. 🙂

This week when we saw one of our Amis called Lionel who has been studying the Apocrypha to find answers that he wasn’t seeing in the bible. He had asked us a question about a scripture found in the Book of Genesis that had obviously confused him about whether it is speaking of angels or Worthy Men. We were able to call one of the elders that came in with me, named Elder Steinbock who was raised Jewish, he was baptized just one year before going on his mission. We were in the MTC together.  As he was raised Jewish and speaks Hebrew and studies the Old Testament in Hebrew, he was able to help us clarify this verse very easily. 🙂 It was really cool to learn these things and to help our Ami answer this questions that long boggled his mind. That for me is another testimony that we are where we need to be at this time and that God really does know and love his children, he wants us to be happy and we can be happy during this life.

On Sunday I gave a talk in church, it went pretty well, I was speaking of the charity and I really felt guided as I spoke, seeing that I only found out that I had to give it 5 minutes before, I needed to be guided haha it was really fun actually and I have learned to be
a lot more comfortable speaking to crowds, I just need to put my trust in the Lord. 🙂

I love you all and I hope you all have a good week!

Elder Peterson,
La mission Française de Lyon.
